One of our main purposes of setting up Adventure Weekends is to make the program available to boys who don’t have a dad around. Therefore, for every two people who sign up, we are asking them to invite a boy who lives with a single mom, a boy whose dad is not around, a young man who needs adventure in his life or a boy who is in desperate need of guidance from strong healthy men. The cost for the invited friend is $49.

Single moms: please help us by recruit dads and sons for adventure weekends who will invite your son along. If you are unable to afford the fee, scholarships are available.

Tents will be provided but you are welcome to bring your tent, even if you don’t know how to pitch a tent, we will help you figure it out and set it up. Sleeping bags will also be provided but you are free to bring your own, just make sure it is rated for the season. It can be very cold in Salida in the spring and fall.

Each activity will be proceeded by a briefing that instructs each participant as to what is expected, safety rules, contingency plan and emergency plan. The activities will be laid back and reflective for the most part. However, some activities like the mountain climb will necessarily be hard strenuous events. Kids will be required to join group activities because supervision will not be provided otherwise. Activities will be adjusted based on the skill, ability and attitude of the kids and adults.
