TIM'S BIO

Before becoming a “rugged gentleman” in his own right, Timothy W. Austin had the disrespect knocked out of him – repeatedly - by a 1200-lb. milk cow, on a farm in the mountains of Colorado. It didn’t take much to kick a lot of respect into a 70-lb. boy, but for some reason the milk cows seemed to think Tim needed multiple doses of the lesson. Funny, nothing on a farm respects a 70-lb. boy. Not a 3-ton tractor, a 1500-lb. horse, a high-powered rifle, an irrigation canal, acres of fruit trees, or 50-lb. bales of hay. Nothing. On a farm, a boy has to learn to respect and properly use the resources that provide food.

Later, Tim built a log home with his dad, which instilled a love for building that was passed down through many generations of West Virginia and Tennessee builders -- and continues to define Tim’s life even today. There are tons of similarities to building a house from a pile of lumber, building a business from a single idea, or building a respectful man from a scrappy little toddler.

But the most defining experience of Tim’s life was his high school wrestling program. Under an incredibly tough coach, he learned character, courage, and toughness. He went from a wimpy little boy who got the snot kicked out of him in every match in junior high to win the state championship his senior year in high school.

Tim then coached wrestling in “after school” programs ranging from high school down to pre-school age. He has directed teen youth camp, taught school, coached baseball, and developed an Adventures to Manhood program to provide pre-adolescent boys with life skills that men desperately need, by teaching them about shooting, etiquette, survival, mountaineering, woodworking, first aid, fishing, rafting, swimming, and automobile maintenance. Tim worked in a coal mine to pay for his college education, then went on to manage multi-million dollar construction projects and own his own building company for over 20 years. He also created and managed several different construction-related businesses and helped several friends start their own enterprises.

Tim currently lives in Colorado Springs with Dierdre, his wife of 24 years, and his three children: Taylor, 18 year old football player; William, 12 year old artist, athlete and marksman; and Avery, 8 year old daddy’s girl and future President of the United States. Tim enjoys primitive weapon hunting for elk and bear, drag racing, mountain climbing, camping, shooting, and coaching his kids’ sports teams.

His life dream is to shape the next generation of young men into first-rate men who are self-reliant, self-disciplined, thoughtful, patient, kind, gentlemanly, merciful, and gracious -- yet fierce when necessary.
